NORTHEASTERN REGIONAL ENVIROTHON

The Ontario Envirothon is a hands-on environmental challenge for high school students in grades 9-12.  This year’s provincial level of competition is returning to an on-site competition at Fleming College (May 20th – 23rd, 2015).  Therefore, we are pleased to announce we are returning to our traditional regional level of competition for your Northeastern Regional Envirothon (NERE).  This two day event will consist of exciting hands-on workshops and field tours, followed by testing skills and concepts of the four key program areas: forestry, aquatics, soils, wildlife, as well as this year’s special topic,  Urban Community Forestry.  The winning team will advance to compete against other regional winners at the provincial level of competition.

These knowledge accrued throughout this experience includes connections to science and geography curriculum and are also invaluable to students enrolled in SHSM (Specialist High Skills Major) programs, as students will be exposed to the job opportunities that exist in their field of study.  You are invited to bring your whole class or environment club, and choose your team of five students before or following the event through the Ontario Forestry Association (www.ontarioenvirothon.ca).

DATE: The 2015 Envirothon Competition has been cancelled due to low enrollment.
