NATIVE AWARENESS EXPERIENCE PROGRAM

Based on the Award Winning Native Awareness Program for the Ontario Provincial Police and the Walking the Path Program.  The program is delivered by retired OPP Sergeant (Aboriginal Unit) George Couchie, member of Nipissing First Nation Community…adapted and delivered for school boards, corporate, community groups, general interest groups and other organizations.

Participate and learn about the history, beliefs, issues, customs and traditions of the First Nations. This course has been designed and delivered for police services and other agencies that have contact with or will be working with native communities. It is also applicable to individuals and/or groups who are interested in learning more about local native culture while developing cultural sensitivity and awareness.

This course is as much a personal experience as it is a training initiative. For this reason, it is important that it be approached with an open mind. You will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities that complement the course program. A certificate of completion will be provided for PD purposes.
