COVID-19

CEC and NNDSB Summer School Credit Course 2023 COVID-19 Safety Plan

*Subject to change before and/or during a session based on most current guidelines available

Although we are resuming to post-pandemic levels of activities, COVID-19 and other illnesses are still circulating in our communities and are still causing severe illness in some individuals. (especially with those who are immunocompromised and/or have ongoing medical health issues/conditions).
With direction and guidance from our current Health Care team, the following recommendations and procedures will be in place:

1. Everyone is encouraged to be fully up to date with any/all vaccinations and reach out to your personal health care provider for any questions you may have. Vaccination is one tool to help ensure your own personal safety and those around you, but it does not mean that you cannot carry/transmit or become infected again with a virus. It is not a 100% safety guarantee but it is one tool we have to help protect everyone.

2. As recommended by our site support Health Care Provider (Nurse Practitioner), it is suggested that ALL students complete a RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) a day or two prior to arrival. Rapid testing should include a combined oral/nasal. The following link will help you with this new swab technique if you are unfamiliar. https://www.ontariohealth.ca/sites/ontariohealth/files/2022-02/COVID-19RapidAntigenTests-HowtoCollectaSample.pdf

If you are having difficulty accessing test kits (and would like to do a test), please reach out to us and we can arrange to have a test kit for you on arrival.

Some notes about if a POSITIVE RAT result (or symptoms for COVID-19) is received prior to and/or during a credit course session.

  • A positive result (via test and/or illness) does not necessarily mean you have to self-isolate or be removed from the program (including being removed from your cabin residence), unless the illness/situation is severe enough that the CEC’s Nurse Practitioner recommends it.
  • Masking may/will be required (based on the CEC’s Nurse Practitioner’s request)

If you have any questions or concerns, or your student is exhibiting symptoms of illness prior to attending the session, please reach out at any time for further guidance.
