O.W.L.S. LEARNING SUPPORT PROGRAM for Grades 7-12
The O.W.L.S. Learning Support program is for students in grade 7-12 who are taking part in online or independent learning through their school board AND for students in grade 7/8 who are being home schooled.
This program offered at the Canadian Ecology Centre, aims to enhance student learning through experiential and nature based activities. Students learning online and independently will receive in person support and tutoring from our qualified teachers. Homeschoolers will receive lessons and in person support focused on areas of math, literacy and science, and leave with a completion package outlining what areas of the curriculum were assessed and completed.
These 1-week sessions, with an overnight in-residence or day only option, offer students a chance to ‘break away’ from their homes and make social connections within a natural space with qualified teachers and support staff, who are able to help students in a variety of subject areas.
Students must provide their own laptops/technology.
Limited to 15 students per cohort class. Indoor learning spaces are spaced out to allow a minimum of 2m physical distancing between each student’s work station. Bilingual instruction/support may be available at times throughout the week.
