2026 CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellation by Families: Refunds for cancellations initiated by families will follow the schedule below:

Before April 1, 2026: Refund of all payments minus a $150 administration fee (non-transferable).

April 2 – May 1, 2026: Refund of all payments minus $800 ($150 administration fee + $650 course fee). All fees are non-transferable.

May 2 – June 1, 2026: Refund of all payments minus $1,800 ($150 administration fee + $1,650 course fee). All fees are non-transferable.

After June 1, 2026: No refunds. All fees are non-transferable.

Note: Credit card processing fees (1% of the transaction amount) are non-refundable.

Cancellation by the Canadian Ecology Centre (Force Majeure / Forced Closure): If a course is cancelled due to circumstances beyond the Centre’s control—such as natural disasters, severe weather, government-mandated closures, or other Force Majeure events—the following will apply:

Initial Refund: 50% of all course fees paid (minus the $150 non-refundable administration fee and any credit card fees) will be refunded.

Remaining Balance: The remaining 50% is non-refundable, but may be:

Transferred as a credit for future programs or services (valid for up to 2 years), or

Donated to the Canadian Ecology Centre Education Foundation, in which case a charitable tax receipt will be issued.

During a Course Closure: If a session is already in progress, no refunds will be provided. When possible, remaining course content may be completed through experiential remote learning.

Withdrawals During a Course: No refunds will be issued if a student is sent home or voluntarily withdraws once a course has begun.

Transfers from previous years: Some families may have a portion of their course fees transferred from a previous year. These transferred amounts remain non-refundable and are only eligible to be used as a credit for up to two years from the original cancellation date.

If a family cancels a 2026 registration that includes a transferred balance from a previous year:

Any new payments made for 2026 will be treated according to the 2026 cancellation policy and timelines.

Any transferred balance from a previous year will not be refunded under the 2026 policy and will continue to follow the original cancellation terms and expiry date.

Transferred credits cannot be “converted” into a refund by registering and then cancelling under a later year’s policy.

Financial Transparency: The Canadian Ecology Centre is a non-profit organization and does not have sufficient operational reserves to provide full refunds in the event of an emergency shutdown. Refunds and transfers will be processed as soon as operationally and financially feasible, and families will be kept informed of timelines and limitations.
